Today, after attending Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel at Stella Maris, we toured briefly the gardens of the Bahá'í temple on Mount Carmel and later toured the ruins of Mount Megiddo. This was a fortress built up by pre-Canannite civilizations, the Egyptains, and later King Solomon and King Ahab. It was at the center of the trade routes between Egypt and Damascus and it was a scene where many decisive battles were fought in the Ancient World. It has also seen its course of battles in the Twentieth Century with the British defeating the Turks in 1917 and the Israelis defeating the Arabs in 1948. It is spoken about in Revelation 16:16 as the palce where the final battle between good and evil will be fought at the end of time.
